HOW TO APPLY SERUM AND WHAT IS JADE ROLLER?

Today I’m sitting on my couch watching TV with my hubs and wanted to share a part of my nighttime routine.. I have been following this routine for a long time and I just realized, that I’ve never shared this with you guys before.. I guess! 🙂

Okay, so before I go to bed, I cleanse my face really well using this cleanser and this one on the days I have acne. Then I apply my face and eye serum. For those of you who don’t know what a face serum is, then let me ease you by saying that you’re not alone! A lot of people don’t know what a serum is. And a lot of people think of serum as a moisturizer (even I did, a few years ago). So answering some of the basic questions about serums below. But right now back to my nighttime routine. So I apply this serum and Eye concentrate using this Jade roller.

What is a Jade Rolling?

The idea of Jade rolling comes from a centuries-old beauty tradition. Jade rolling is believed to have been practiced by wealthy Chinese women. Rolling jade across the skin will get your skin to glow naturally. It helps with circulation, de-puffs the eye area, and improves skin elasticity and it’s detoxifying. It also helps calm skin and even out your complexion, the skin guru says, and make it noticeably less puffy, defining your cheekbones, jawline, and brows!

So I use this Jade roller over my serum and give a gentle rolling massage to my face and under eye area. Then I apply my nighttime moisturizer.

Here’s a little Q&A about serums, like I had mentioned before in this post!

What is serum?
Serum is a skincare product you can apply to your skin after cleansing but before moisturizing with the intent of delivering powerful ingredients directly into the skin. Serum is particularly suited to this task because it is made up of smaller molecules that can penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients. This makes them a great tool for targeting specific skincare concerns, like wrinkles. Goodbye, signs of aging!

Is serum a moisturizer?
Yes and no. Serums can be chock-full of moisturizing ingredients to help skin retain moisture. But, that doesn’t mean that you don’t need moisturizers . Face lotions and creams are richer and create a barrier on top of the skin to keep all that good stuff in.

How often should I use my serum?
Well, this all depends on the serum. Read the label, but once a day will probably cover your bases I personally use at night most of the times, but have also used this as a day serum in the past and I still do, especially on the days when my skin is dry.

What’s the difference between serum and face oil?
Great question. Traditional serums are water-based. Though, as the face oil trend grows (and there are more and more oils on the market), more oils are marketed as serums.
