Recently, we visited Houston for a tour to NASA with my family, hence sharing a glimpse of our trip. If you are a resident or visiting Texas area, and not sure what to do on a long weekend, road-tripping to NASA might be a great option to consider for you and your family, especially if you have young children.
Here’s me..ready with my comfy travel outfit! We drove down from Dallas to Houston and it took us almost 4 hours with a STARBUCKS coffee/lunch break!
Arrived at our Hotel.. Courtyard Houston NASA! A little glimpse to our comfortable stay located right by NASA Johnson Space Center. . This hotel is filled with great amenities that helps unwind and relax after an exciting day of exploring! Luxurious bedding, TV, complementary high-speed Wi-Fi access, pool and 24- hour fitness center. And when hunger strikes head down to the bistro, serving breakfast/dinner & Starbucks beverages and cocktails. What else can I say, ‘Marriott’ is our favorite when it comes to a comfortable stay away from home!
Tour to NASA, started early right after breakfast! Our first stop at the MISSION CONTROL CENTER.. and then headed to the MISSION OPERATIONS CONTROL ROOM (Apollo Mission Control Center- you must be approved by the Facility and have an authorized visitors badge to get access).
Next stop- THE SPACE VEHICLE MOCKUP FACILITY (with approved access). Such a fun experience being here & sitting inside the Space Shuttle Trainer.
Then we headed to the Rocket Park. Here we learned about the missions: Apollo 1 to Apollo17
Final Destination.. SPACE CENTER! Learning about the Apollo missions, International Space station, IMAX movie and shows, and then shopping at the store were the main highlights for our family.
Had pizza for dinner and that was the end of Day 1. Day 2, we went to visit the Galveston beach, Pleasure pier, Moody Gardens, and ICE!
Such a fun 3 night, 2 day trip to Houston and then road-tripping back.. Here’s my outfit. Always prefer comfy clothing for a road trip and love carrying scarves on the travel for extra layering in the winters.
Again 4 hours give or take and so glad to be Home..sweet home!
XO
