HOW TO USE TURMERIC FOR HEALTHIER SKIN
Turmeric is probably the most important spice in Indian dishes and has tons of health and skin benefits- help brighten dull, lackluster skin. For centuries, Turmeric has been used as a spice not only in cooking curries, but also in Indian beauty.
There are a few different ways to incorporate turmeric into your beauty and health regimen:
Oral –
I tried these capsules from Costco once, but not sure if its still available at Costco but can be purchased here. Now I just put 1 tsp of turmeric in 4 oz water and drink it every morning when I wake up to help balance, calm and clarify my skin/complexion.
In Foods-
Perhaps the most delectable way to use turmeric is to incorporate this pleasant spice into the foods you prepare. We use it in our Indian curries all the time and have been consuming for years.
Topical Applications –
Applying turmeric directly to the face and body will leave your skin feeling refreshed and rehydrated. You can purchase turmeric creamor make your own.
SERUM: I’ve been using the Clarins Double Serum for a long time and love it. Formulated with turmeric and effectively targets lines and wrinkles, even out skin tone and boost radiance.
MASK: Also, I recently started this NEW Colleen Rothschild Turmeric mask and am loving it.. This Ayurvedic-inspired recipe is whipped with Neem Oil, Honey, and Yogurt—ancient remedies known for hydration and rejuvenation.
DIY MASK: Here is another wonderful DIY recipe that I learned from my mom and applied it so many times on my skin growing up. Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder + 1 teaspoon of honey + 1 teaspoon plain yogurt. Mix and apply on face and/or body. Leave it for 5-10 minutes and rinse off. (Be very careful if you DIY though- turmeric may stain your skin and clothes which may be easy to remove from skin using a cotton ball dipped in olive oil and rub the stained area of the skin; but may be tough to get rid from the clothes, especially white colored clothing. For that reason I prefer to use the Clarins serum and Colleen Rothschild beauty turmeric mask.)
